September is our month for giving back to the community and assisting a number of good causes in the region and one closer to home and our hearts. This year we have chosen to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice who do some fantastic work and a cause that is very close to the heart for Sensei Jim who suggested them when I spoke to him recently. The other organisation we will be helping is the Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge again doing valuable work to help people at their most vulnerable time.
Closer to Home we will also helping Isabela, the daughter of our student Richard who is in need of an electric wheelchair which is not provided by the NHS, to make life better for this young lady who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Isabela is 8 this month and I think it will be a phenomenal birthday present if we could help her get a new wheelchair. Anthony Mcillwee from Bromsgrove club is already in training to run a half marathon to raise funds and if you wish to support him in his efforts there is a Just Giving Page on Facebook.
How can you help? Well we will be doing our sponsored kicks of 100, 200 or 300 and the sponsor forms will be distributed this week.
Also, if you introduce a friend or relative to do the taster course in September, not only will they benefit from a month of unlimited training, a free karate suit and 20% reduction in the taster course fee, half the fee will be donated to the fund raising activities so everyone WINS. Thank you
